Alonzo King's LINES Ballet, San Francisco's premiere contemporary ballet is teaming up with the Women's HIV Program (WHP) on Thursday April 25, 2013 to create an inspirational and educational event about the HIV crisis among minority women and girls. Alonzo King LINES Ballet’s 30th Anniversary Spring season boasts a dream collaboration between visionary choreographer Alonzo King and venerated double bassist and composer Edgar Meyer. Hailed byThe New Yorker as “…the most remarkable virtuoso in the relatively unchronicled history of his instrument,” Meyer draws audiences from all music corners — including classical, bluegrass, newgrass and jazz, and was a 2013 Grammy Award recipient for Best Folk Album along with YoYo Ma.
VIP tickets for this benefit are $125 and include a pre-performance cocktail reception and forum with a presentation by Dr. Edward Machtinger, Director of WHP and Mr. Alonzo King, Artistic Director of the LINES Ballet and WHP patients.
