Brenda Burney-Jackson, NP, RN
Brenda Burney-Jackson is a nurse practitioner who specializes in gynecology. She has been with the Women's HIV Program (WHP) at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) for 11 years, providing HIV-positive women with the comprehensive care they need to remain healthy. She has been in the women's health practice since 1981 and handles all gynecological issues for the WHP patients. Ms. Burney-Jackson provides family planning, annual exams and menopausal counsel. With more than 18 years of experience as a nurse practitioner, Ms. Burney-Jackson's services are essential to HIV-positive women due to their increased risk of disease and cancer.
Ms. Burney-Jackson is also actively involved in helping HIV-positive patients enrich their personal lives by educating them about positive relationships, good nutrition and safe sex. She has also participated in many ongoing forensic nursing research projects concerning human papillomavirus (HPV) and HIV. Ms. Burney-Jackson graduated from the University of San Francisco with a degree in nursing, and received her nurse practitioner license at San Jose State University.
